If I was able to give it 0 stars, I absolutely would. Let me start off by immediately noticing how unpleasant, unprofessional and disrespectful the executive director of independent living is; Marielena. She clearly does not know how to run a facility like this and can recognize that she has never taken managing courses and don't even get me started on her nasty personality. She has no compassion or empathy towards her residents nor her employees. Residents that I've spoken to have a list of complaints around her being in a job position that she is very much underqualified for! She needs to be REPLACED IMMEDIATELY with someone who actually listens, communicates, shows compassion, and that actually CARES about the well being of others and who can ACTUALLY RUN THIS PLACE. She is doing a terrible job, no wonder so many residents have been leaving this place!!! THEY'RE UNHAPPY!!!!

When calling Desert Winds, the front desk lady, Pat was so caring and understanding. She listened to all my questions and assisted me with all my needs and questions. I chose to tour this facility for my families needs based on just the way Pat handled my phone call. A+++ service!!

Clean environment, very lovely facility. The dining room supervisor, Lucy, was wonderful and friendly. Another waiter, Anthony, seemed a little shy but was very attentive and pleasant.

After spending almost 2 years mostly alone in my home due to medical problems that required surgery and COVID lockdowns, I sold my home and moved into Desert Winds in August of 2022. I was tired of being lonely and wanted to be around other people. The staff here is very friendly. They are always willing to stop what they are doing and listen to whatever little thing is on my mind at the time, and lend a hand if needs be. Blake, and Dan, and Austin ( the maintenance guys) have been especially kind to me. They helped me hang my prized painting of Paris on the wall in my apartment, and put together my cat "tree" when I moved in. It made me and my kitties feel right at home. They also frequently carry heavy things like cases of water and groceries from my car and put it where I want it in my apartment. I don't know what I would do without them. Kara, the new leasing agent, is Desert Wind's secret weapon! She is a dynamo, always smiling and willing to talk to the residents as she moves through the building accomplishing her "regular" tasks. She has a genuine desire to help make Desert Winds a better place to live! She also listens to the people she takes on tours and finds out what things they like about Desert Winds, and what things they would like to here that are not offered yet. The biggest thing that I would like to see improved here is: Offering some healthier options for meat and more veggies to eat in the dining room. I feel that this is not an unreasonable request because the demographic that this facility serves, needs to eat healthier if they desire to live longer (me included). I am happy here, but I am excited to consider that things might become even better in the future!

We moved my Dad into Desert Winds about a year ago. We recently just moved him out to be closer to us so I wanted to take a moment to write a review that encompasses move in to move out. First off I would not hesitate to move my Dad back to Desert Winds, the staff is caring and the facility is clean and nice. From the day that we signed up to move in until the time that we moved out every request that we had was greeted with caring and enthusiasm. The staff at Desert Winds treated my Dad as family and was genuinely sad to see him go. When I visited I noticed that many residence were out and about and would mingle and chat, Desert Winds seems to have a nice community of residence, along with a full calendar of activities. I also liked the fact that there was an on-site company that was available to do tasks and chores for the residence if needed at an extra cost. Lastly I felt comfortable knowing that if my Dad needed more care, that Desert Winds has a sister community right next store that he could be moved to easily without us having to go and look for a new facility. The manager at Desert Winds is terrific, he was always willing to chat and listen to any suggestions that myself or my Dad had. Desert Winds was easy to work with from the first to the last, I would highly recommend them!
