My mom was at Northwood Glen 2 for 3 years and 8 months. I regret to say our experience wasn’t the best. I was there nearly every day as I live nearby, and I am retired. While the building is attractive and kept very clean, the food wasn’t great despite my repeated complaints to the owner. I felt that my many attempts to improve the quality of life in general for my mom fell on deaf ears. After all this time, there has been a little improvement in the food and now there is a manager that’s there usually in the mornings, but most of the time, there is absolutely nothing going on there. There are not activities every day as I had been told there would be.
The volume on the TV in the great room is kept so low that nobody can hear it. What’s the use of having a huge TV as the focal point of the room if you can’t even hear it? I understand they want to be able to hear if someone in the back of the house yells for help, but why can’t one of the staff sit back there, then? As a result, most of the residents stay in their own rooms and watch tv.
I also feel that priority is given to making life easier for the caregivers rather than making life better for the residents.
I could go on and on, but, ultimately, if you’re family member is ok with lackluster food, little activity, and just wants to spend their days in their room, this place is fine. If they are still invested in living and having a little fun, I would keep looking.
It is never easy to entrust the care of someone you love to someone else. There is always a worry about whether they will be treated with the same kindness, patience, and respect that you would want for them. That is why finding this home has been such a blessing for our family.From the beginning, we have felt that our loved one is in a safe, caring, and welcoming place. The staff truly takes good care of the residents, and it shows in how happy and comfortable our loved one feels there. Knowing that they are doing well, enjoying their time, and feeling safe gives our family so much peace of mind.
The food is very good, the staff is attentive, and they are always willing to answer our questions and communicate with the family. We also appreciate how they celebrate holidays and special occasions with the residents, creating a warm and joyful environment.We are very grateful for the care, kindness, and attention our loved one receives. It is comforting to know that they are not only being cared for, but that they genuinely feel happy and at home. We feel confident that we made the right choice in choosing this home and would highly recommend it to other families.
I had the privilege of visiting Northwood Glen II Assisted Living today and was impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and the staff.
It was immediately apparent the caregivers were very cognizant and attentive to the residents. I noted how responsive, well groomed and very interactive the residents appeared.
The home itself is immaculate and well designed and spacious.
These were all signs that Northwood Assisted Living is a top notice home for seniors. It will be my pleasure to recommend!
